How to apply for a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation?
- File charitable Organization Registration Statement with the Pennsylvania state department along with the required filing fee.
- All applicants included in the nonprofit corporation must sign the statement.
How to apply for a federal exemption?
- Approval from the PA state department does not give you an automated authority to conduct an operation in the state of Pennsylvia as a non profit entity.
- After filing articles of incorporation of a PA nonprofit entity, you are responsible to file 501c3 with the Internal Revenue Service for the federal exemption.
- Donors cannot claim the donations on their returns without federal exemption. It is a lengthy and complex process and we recommend to apply as soon as possible after getting approved by the PA department of state.
